How to tap into 60+ million highly responsive, targeted visitors
By Brian Terry onThis has got to be one of the simplest methods ever for tapping into an extremely high quality source of traffic. Speaking as someone who’s tried just about everything there is I can say this with absolute certainty.
So where does this traffic come from and more importantly how can you tap into it?
It’s Yahoo Answers and you tap into it by answering people’s questions (you become the expert).
Basically Yahoo Answers is one huge forum of people posting questions on just about every subject you can imagine. The answers people give them are rated based on how helpful they are, it’s through this rating that you build your reputation.
I can guarantee you that no matter what niche you’re in there will be someone with a question for you. On top of this many of these questions and answers rank extremely well in the search engines for long tail search terms.
Here are the benefits of answering questions on Yahoo Answers:
1. You’re tapping into an extremely responsive group of users simply by being a helpful authority. You see by being nothing more than helpful you’re actually pre-selling yourself to anyone reading the answer you give.
2. In the answers you give people you ethically refer to those websites you own or are an affiliate to. That’s where you get the highly responsive, targeted visitors from.
3. As I mentioned earlier those answers you give along with the original question become ranked in the search engines which pulls in even more people to your affiliate links in the answers you’re helping people with. What’s more these are people who might not even have heard of the Yahoo Answers service before.
Helping people with their questions is much like the blog commenting or forum post traffic technique, so it can prove to be time intensive if you get too carried away with it.
All I suggest you do is to take 10 - 20 minutes a day answering 1 or 2 questions, set yourself a limit so as not to tie up your time too much. Over a 3 month period this could easily add up to 110 or more mentions of your affiliate links which are permanently archived on Yahoo.
It’s important to remember that this traffic technique has an accumulative effect over time, so to begin with the traffic you get might not be that high, but after a month or so of posting your answers you’ll begin to build momentum and larger volumes of traffic.
Before you go off and sign up for a Yahoo Answers account here are a few essential tips to help you maximize your results…
- Ensure you always provide quality answers.
- Don’t just leave an affiliate link because you’ll have your answer marked as spam and you could even have your account deleted.
- Work towards obtaining a “best answer” rate which is calculated by the questions you’ve answered in total and the number of times your answer has been chosen as a “best answer”.The better your best answer rate the more respect you’ll gain in the Yahoo Answers community, which means the more times you can reference your affiliate links without being flagged.
- Be the first person to answer the question wherever possible because this gets you the most exposure.
- Reference other websites apart from those you’re an affiliate to or own.
- Don’t include your link in every post you make. It’s all about building your reputation to grow your score, if you always include your link it’ll make people think all you’re interested in is pushing your website or affiliate link.
- A great time saving idea is to answer questions with content you already have. Unique answers always provide the best results because you’re establishing yourself as an expert and not someone good at gathering information.
- Always try to include your keyword terms in your answer, this helps to increase the quality of the traffic you’ll get from the search engines.
- Ask a few questions now and then. If you have questions of your own, related to absolutely anything, go ahead and ask them. This will help to ensure you’re account is not completely one-sided - again a potential negative flag showing the community that you’re only there to provide answers and muster new traffic and leads.Asking your own questions will show you’re an active member of the community on both sides. It’s also a great way to have other people do research for you at no cost - think about that when you have a bit of writers block the next time you sit down to write your newsletter or blog post.
So once you’ve created your account how do you find the questions to answer?
I recommend doing both a specific keyword search and also to dive right into the category located down the right side of the page. Also focus only on questions that do not have an answer yet or have yet to have a best answer selected.
So what next?
- Write down a plan of attack for this method of traffic generation.
- Decide how many questions you’re going to answer each day or week (and stick to it)
Set a regular schedule to follow and stick to it - Once a month check your results to see how much traffic you’ve generated and how much of it converted into customers. Then based on this information decide if it’s worth continuing with.
In summary Yahoo Answers is a really very effective way of promoting your website and affiliate links provided you follow the guidelines I’ve given you above. Because you’re answering questions this traffic technique could be just as good as writing articles because you’re already serving an existing audience.
Don’t forget to keep a copy of all the answers you give because you could easily expand on this into other forms of content like articles, blog posts, ebook reports even PowerPoint slide show videos.
