There’s one thing all “super” affiliate have in common…

They all work on building instant brand and name recognition because the more brand awareness you have the faster you acquire new customers.  It works very simply, the more you see or hear a product or a persons name mentioned the more likely you are to give them a chance.

In previous blog posts I’ve gone into more detail about the importance of creating your own brand, part of this brand is your websites domain name.

As an affiliate your brand is something you use to develop trust and recognition, this is where the importance of setting up redirects comes in to play.

Here’s a classic example of applying your brand through the use of an affiliate link redirect.

In your emails to your subscribers you’ll be promoting and recommending various products, over time your affiliate get to know, like and trust you. So when they see a link to your domain name they know it’s a link they can trust, because they know it’s coming from you.

I’m hoping that by now you’ve registered a domain name for yourself and perhaps even followed the suggestions I made to you in my recent article: Are you developing a brand for yourself?

What I’d like you to do next is to create a redirected link for each your affiliate links.

So instead of http://www.bigsellingniches.com/checklist.html?aff_id=2?camp_id=27 (as an example) in all your promotions you use the link: http://yourdomain.com/checklist

This now brands your website wherever people see this link, which could be in the emails you send to your list, the articles you write or the forum posts you make.

Can you see the power behind this idea?

The other advantage to this is if ever you decide to change the product you’re promoting there’s only 1 link to change and that’s the file that makes the redirect work.

Also a short link for each of the affiliate products you’re creating is going to be much easier to remember as you’re surfing the net for marketing opportunities to promote it.

So how do you create these affiliate redirect links?

It’s ever so easy, provided you have an HTML editing program. Because here’s all you need to do step-by-step…

Step 1: Download this zip file which contains a .php file. It’s this .php file that creates the redirect for you.

Step 2: Open this .php file in your HTML editing program, the code you’ll see should look something like this…

Step 3:
All you do now is change the text where it says “http://your-affiliate-link” to your affiliate link, then save the file and upload to your hosting account.

Don’t change the .php at the end of the file name otherwise it will not work, it must be index.php. You can change the file name but not the extension.

Step 4: What I recommend you do is create a directory folder within your hosting account for each of the products you’re promoting as an affiliate. Then give it a name that you’ll recognize as being the link for that product.

Step 5: Make a record of all your affiliate link redirects so you can easy grab them whenever you need them.

That’s all there is to it.

If you don’t yet have an HTML editor you can get one here for free along with training on how to use it.
